Introducing Rachel Miller
May 23, 2008
To Whom It May Concern:
With a sense of urgency I would like to introduce
to you for your consideration as a missionary
candidate, Rachel Miller. It would only be natural that
I would highly recommend her to you since she is my
daughter. But I would also highly recommend her as her
pastor. Where ever she has labored for the Lord there
has been the highest praise for her service, a fact
that I know she would only give the glory to the
Lord.
This urgent situation came about a month ago when
Rachel was invited to a former Soviet Union nation,
which must remain unnamed for security reasons, to work
with an orphan ministry along side a fundamental
Baptist missionary couple. Rachel contacted this couple
after hearing about their orphan ministry through a
prayer received at our church. . After some emails and
phone conversations Rachel was invited to help while
another missionary couple returns to the states for
furlough in July. This trip will include also survey
trips to other fields with open doors, i.e. Moscow
& St. Petersburg, and Kiev, Ukraine. She has
estimated that this trip will cost approximately
$5000.
Rachel trusts the Lord and His servants to supply
this need. If you would prayerfully consider supporting
Rachel for this short term endeavor, as well as a
longer term I would appreciate it. You can send any
gifts or support to Grace Baptist Church designated for
Rachel Miller.
Allow me now to tell you something about Rachel.
She grew up in a preacher/missionary's home and was
home educated from the 4th grade through high school.
After graduation from high school she worked for
Benchmark Printing and learned much about desktop
publishing which she later used in her ministry in
Russia. A year later in 1995 she went to Moscow, Russia
in an apprenticeship student/missionary outreach
program that worked with orphans, widows and local
churches. What we thought would be a one year trip
turned out to be a 10 year missionary experience in
Russia.
When the Lord directed to leave the above ministry
she returned home and began preparing to return to her
beloved Russia. In that process she found she needed to
complete 2 years of Bible College in order to qualify
for most mission agency's approval. While seeking a
school to attend we got a call from my family in need
of help caring for my parents in Ohio. With little
hesitation, she decided to go and spent the next 15
month as the primary care giver for my parents until
the required care became more than she was able to
supply. While in Ohio she attended Victory Baptist
Church in Coshocton Ohio where Bro. Ralph Johnson is
the pastor. Her labor in the music and youth ministry
and counseling young ladies was highly praised.
Returning home at Christmas 2006, she came to the
prayerful decision that she could no longer meet her
grandparents needs and that it was time for her to
resume her preparations to return to the mission field.
She enrolled in Mountain States Baptist College in
Great Falls, MT, a ministry of Fairview Baptist Church
where Dr. Richard Dion is the pastor. While in college
she maintained here fluency in the Russian language by
teaching it and developing her own curriculum and
teaching materials. She also used her abilities in
piano and flute to teach others and minister at the
church. She developed a leadership class on Sunday
afternoons to help "bus" kids learn to live godly
lives. She graduated on May 16th with an Associate of
Science Degree in Biblical studies, a 2 year course
which she completed in 1½ years.
Her present goal is to return in a permanent
missionary ministry to the Russian speaking orphan
children and help churches and pastors carry out their
Biblical responsibility to minister to widows and the
fatherless, both in the USA and around the world.
For further information, we have a section of our
church's website devoted to her ministry. Go to
www.gracebaptistbillings.org then click on the menu
item "Russia's Children." There you will find letters
of recommendation, her video presentation and other
materials we will be adding as time goes by.
If you would like to contribute to Rachel's
"Reaching Russia's Children" trip, please send it to
Grace Baptist Church designated for this project.
Thank you, and with sincere appreciation for your
time,
Richard Miller
